June 30 is the HUGE Volunteer and Staff Picnic! Pick Up Your Peruvian lunch tickets at 10:30 am in front of Ripley!
2014 Associates Volunteers at the Annual Picnic, July 1, 2014
If you have RSVPed for the annual picnic on Tuesday, June 30, you can pick up your tickets from Brigitte Blachere at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 30th, in front of the entrance to the Ripley Center. Since the site of the picnic is up at the lawn area near the National Museum of the American Indian, you may want to coordinate amongst yourselves for one of you to pick up tickets for other Associates volunteers who will meet you at the picnic location. Brigitte will distribute tickets to a designated person, as long as Jenna is emailed about who is picking up tickets for whom. We will have them ready for you, but need to know in advance about those who will pick up tickets on behalf of others to save them the long walk.
If you are late and miss her (she’s a busy gal with all the summer camps going on that week!), come down to Jenna’s office and Brigitte will have taped your tickets to Jenna’s office door.

Event Rep Spring Meetings
The last of 8 Spring Meetings for Event Reps was on Friday, May 29th. Thank you to all those who participated. We had a great turn out, (65 Reps in all), and the meetings ranged in size from 5 to 14 participants. The discussions could be described as lively and productive. They included a summary of the survey
results, a dialogue about the expectations of our stakeholder groups, new membership materials to add to your handbook as well as safety/evacuation
maps and explanation. We also gave some thought as to where volunteering with The Associates fits in with all the other priorities and ways you spend your time and energy (“Life is Like Pie” handout.)
A special shout out and thank you goes to these volunteers who took notes for each session, including Monty Cones, Katherine Griffin, Camille Hersh, Marguerite Nutter, Lynn O’Connell, Catherine McCleary, and Nadia Tongour, as well as Roxana Estrada and Phyllis Breese who did some transcription. Jenna will condense these notes into a composite document to share with all Event Reps and all Programmers by the end of July.

Summer Sleepovers Update
Lots and lots of volunteers are answering the call to excite the learning in children at our 12 Sleepover events this summer! Thank you to all who signed up to do at least 3 of the 13.
NOTE: we especially need volunteers to co-lead creative educational activities with kids on Friday, July 3 and Friday, August 28th.
Other Sleepover Dates volunteers may choose: August 1, 7, and 14. The two new National Portrait Gallery Sleepovers (July 25 and August 22) have enough volunteers so we are not recruiting any additional ones for those two.
Sleepover volunteers arrive at 6 pm for an orientation and quick training, and get to leave about 11:15 pm and sleep in the comfort of their own beds.
To sign up for Sleepover volunteer shifts, email Jenna or call her at 202-633-8596. She will enter those dates in EVANS for you. Thanks for your support!
